host a Screening: Frequently asked questions
- Who can host a screening? Anyone!
- What kind of venue can I use? As long as the screening is not in a commercial theatre, you are free to host your event at the venue of your choice! These include museums, libraries, schools, community centres, churches, corporations, parks, etc.
- Do I need a license? In order to show the film anywhere outside of your home, you must purchase and own public performance rights.
What sort of license do I need? We have two types of licenses:
- Choose "Educational" if you would like to host multiple screenings where you will not be charging admission. Order here.
- Choose "Community" if you would like a host one-time with the option of charging admission. Order here.- What comes with my public screening license purchase?

- 2 x 94-minute theatrical DVDs of I AM ELEVEN
- Extensive educational resources, including access to our web portal and international pen pal program.
- 55-minutes of bonus features, including "Where are they now?" videos, filmmaker Q&As, extra scenes and a video showing the making of the soundtrack with composer Nick Huggins!
- English subtitles (closed captions available)
- Can I charge admission? If you purchase a Community License, you can.
- Do you offer streaming rights with the screening licenses? If you would like to stream the film for your screening rather than use a DVD, that option is now available when ordering either license. We will be in touch with a link once you have purchased the film.

- Why it's a violation to stream from iTunes (if available in your territory) or pay for a home use individual DVD to show in an institutional setting? These are intended for home use and are not licensed for use in universities, schools, public libraries, or government agencies, or for any public purpose outside of the individual purchaser's private home. It is a violation of copyright law to host a public or classroom screening, or add to a library catalog, using a home DVD or Video on Demand.
- Can we preview the film before purchasing a screening license? We can send you ta preview of the first 12-minutes of the film upon request. Please contact us.
- Can we do a post-screening Q&A with the filmmaker? Of course! If filmmaker Genevieve Bailey is able to travel to you for the screening, that can be arranged, otherwise, we can do a Skype Q&A. If you would like to coordinate, please contact us.
